Auld South Yorkshire 2 v 1 Winteringham FC (Half time: 1 - 1 )
by Anthony Hubbard
Winteringham Goal Scorer: Jack Cardy Winteringham Man of the Match: Lee Moulds
Winteringham FC suffered their second league defeat of the season at the hands of Auld South Yorkshire, and like the first they can feel very hard done by to have lost. The players equipped themselves very well and were on top for the majority of the game. With Lee Moulds and Karl Hull having headers cleared off the line, Jack Cardy and Lee Moulds striking the post, but yet again Winteringham rued their missed chances. The first goal fell to Auld South, with their striker beating the Winteringham keeper to a through ball, he only got a toe on the ball but it luckily looped into the empty net. Winteringham soon equalised from a swift corner Jack Cardy got a sight of goal and fired the ball past the Auld South keeper. It was Jack’s third goal in two games. Winteringham took control of the game and look destined to score, but as Winteringham kept pushing forward looking to win the game they got caught on the counter for Auld South's winner. Many positives can be taken out of the performance - it was game that Winteringham should have won on the balance of play.
The next game is a County Cup tie against Whaplode Drove, which is to be played at the home of Barton Town, Marsh Lane, Barton. Kick Off 2pm.
